MEDIA RELEASE INDEPENDENT LYNE SEEKS A CANDIDATE FOR THE NEXT FEDERAL ELECTION The federal electorate of Lyne has been a safe seat for decades, with the people of this region being taken for granted and short changed. After canvassing and listening to what the people of Lyne want from their federal representative, Independent Lyne is now seeking a community Candidate to stand at the next Federal election. Applications are open for passionate and committed people who may have the right skills and characteristics to represent our Community and who will listen and put the interests of voters first. Independent Lyne is advertising across the region in traditional media, as well as local newsletters and social media groups. Inspired by the Independent movement, with the “Teals” and others picking up seats across the country in the 2022 Federal election, a non-partisan group of local people formed Independent Lyne earlier this year. Passionate about getting better outcomes for our community, the volunteer group decided to explore community appetite and support for a people-powered independent candidate for the next Federal election. After a well-attended Community Voices event at Taree in May this year, Independent Lyne has held small events across the electorate, listening to people. They’ve listened at local markets, at street stalls and at Kitchen Table Conversations in peoples homes, community halls and coffee shops. “These gatherings have been the cornerstone of the Independent movement’s approach to understanding the issues of our community and we’ll shortly be releasing the results of what we’ve heard” said Independent Lyne spokesperson Jeremy Miller. The information gathered from these events allows Independent Lyne to identify the essential skills and characteristics our community is looking for in a Candidate. “The community is looking for someone who will put the interest of Lyne first, who will listen and be committed to the electorate. Watch out for the ads and if you, or someone you know ‘fits the bill’, then apply on the Independent Lyne website” said Jan Ross from Independent Lyne. Potential Candidates can apply on the Independent Lyne website www.indepedentlyne.org
