Behind the Scenes at a KTC

We’ve been keeping on with our Kitchen Table Conversations. Here’s one we held at Clarence Town, a rural village on the Williams River in the southern part of the electorate.

 
 

"It was an enlivening conversation! What we like about living in Clarence Town is that it has good essential services within proximity and is close to bigger centres for specialists and higher education. It has a good range of active community groups and good opportunities for kids.

We like the vibe of the Clarence Town community, which we describe as friendly; a place where people look out for one another and are supportive, and where there is a strong sense of community."

The participants in the Clarence Town KTC also said they really appreciated the natural environment of the area.

When discussing what they wanted in their federal representative, they raised the importance of having someone who is "approachable, has good listening skills and is empathetic".

Their ideal representative was someone who would be visible, have lots of contact with the community and who would work for and be accountable to their community not the Party.

Importantly they wanted their representative to have a vision for the electorate and to be a consensus builder, not a polarising or divisive figure.
